Fheavy shower
in 1565, Tucuman was the cradle of independence with San Miguel
de Tucuman, city principal of the North of Argentina, it is
proud of its colonial past and the part played in the wars
which carried out to independence.
It is starting from half of the 19éme century, thanks
in particular to the presence of a strong French colony, that
the culture of the cane and the manufacture of the sugar gave
to the province a rise and a richness which made of its aristocracy
the rival of Buenos Aires.
But one century later, the province is declining. Because
of a crisis of the courses of the sugar which is not compensated
by the other cultures.
The city with its old houses, its splendid parks, its modern
buildings, its prestigious university, is surrounded of a
vast zone of shantytowns, among most miserable of Argentina.
In spite of the crisis, it remains a prestigious city.
