Many and splendid lakes of a major blue, decorate the landscape of this area, in particular Villarrica, Ranco, Puyehue, Llanquihue, Todos Los Santos and well of others still.
The amateurs of big spaces will devote themselves to it with joy to the pleasures of the hiking, the climbing, the rafting, fishing or of simple stroll on blued water of the lakes of mountain surrounded by landscapes enchanters. There are also lake beaches, many hot sources and even of the ski stations.
The septentrional part of this area takes sometimes the name of Araucania. It is here that live the majority of Mapuches of Chile. This tribe which gave up its last ancestral grounds only at the end of the 19éme century, constituted most of the Araucaniens people, and form today the most important Amerindian group of the southernmost triangle of South America.
