TORTUGERO

The area of Tortuguero includes the village of Tortuguero , of many channels as Nacional Tortuguero Parks it. It acts of the one of the most beautiful and interesting areas of Costa Rica.
It is the dreamed place or you will be able to observe the flora and fauna.

The area of Tortuguero proves to be rich of an exceptional fauna and a flora cash of innumerable species thanks to its particular climate. Thus, it falls more than 5 000 mm from rain per annum, that is to say a level of rainfall among highest in the world. One cannot really speak about dry season, although March, February and September is those receiving less precipitations.

Parks Nacional Tortuguero, of a terrestrial of 18 946 ha and marine surface of 52 266 ha, was created in 1975 with an aim of protecting the tortoises from the area, as well as the forest and the channels which are not without pointing out those of Amazonia.
During the night, when the tide is high, the tortoises come to lay their eggs all both or four years. Each female will deposit between one and six ranges of eggs with 10 to 14 days of interval. To reduce the fauna of the area of Tortuguero to the only tortoises would be to forget the 107 other species of reptiles, 57 species of Amphibians, 55 fresh water fish species, 60 species of mammals and more than 300 species of birds.
The ornithologists amateurs will be charmed of easily being able to observe various species of toucans, trogons, parrots, will hérons and other brushes.

To 5 km of the village of Tortugero, Cerro Tortuguero dominates the area, one can reach it only by boat. The way which carries out to its top is relatively short but abrupt. One will be able to see there monkeys, small frogs poisonous and coloured as well as trees and multiple plants which make this dense forest.
