Santiago
of Cuba, capital of the culture afrocubaine to the country,
is a city hot under the sun of midday and endiablée
until the small hours of the morning. From night like day,
a remote rate/rhythm resounds in the tortuous and escarpées
streets of Santiago, a call with the dance and the discovery.
It represents what New-Orleans is in the United States or
Bahia in Brazil. Here, the cultures mix, creating a single
ethnic diversity with the country. The Africans, the French,
the Spaniards, the Chinese and even the autochtones formed,
during centuries, a culture which influenced the remainder
of the country. Cradle of the sound, the rhythmic base of
the cuban music, Santiago of Cuba can be praised to be most
exotic and most typical of the large cities of the country.
Santiago
of Cuba is between the high mountains of the Maestra Sierra
and the sea. The province of Santiago has many natural reserves
along the Maestra Sierra. To the east of the city, Gran Piedra,
a mountain of 1 200 m of altitude, offers tracks for the excursion
and, very close, of excellent beaches are cherished by the
Caribbean Sea in the area of Siboney. Moreover, the largest
park of the country, Parks it Baconao, is to around fifty
of kilometers in the east of Santiago of Cuba.
