The
white sand beaches an overall length of more than 18 km
constitute the principal tourist attraction of Varadero
, which receives each year of the hundreds of thousands
of tourists. If the development of tourist industry with
the passing of years radically changed the urban landscape
of Varadero, it still has nevertheless some old houses out
of wooden and some typical streets.
Located
on the peninsula of Hicacos, in the province of Matanzas,
Varadero is long and thin strip of land which advances in
the sea. Its beaches are superb, and the Cubans claim, rightly,
that they prove to be most beautiful of the country. Calm
and transparent water has an infinity of colours, energy
of the turquoise green to dark blue. Ideal for the bathe
and the water sports, the sea is always hot, the average
ambient temperature of Varadero being of 25oC.
