El Salvador is located in Central America at the limit of
Guatemala at North and the West, of Honduras in North and
the East and of the Pacific Ocean in the South and the West.
The major part of the territory is volcanic; one can say that
the country is crossed by a cordillera of volcanos. The highest
mountains are: Santa Ana with 2365 meters of altitude, San
Vicente with 2182 meters and San El Salvador with 1943 meters.
Because of the volcanic activity, the ground which is covered
with a large layer with lava and volcanic ash, is very fertile,
in particular for the coffee culture. The low grounds extend
as much to North as in the south from the mountainous cordillera.
