MONTEVIDEO
Founded in 1726 by the Spaniards, Montevideo is it capital of
Uruguay and the largest city of the country. It dominates by
far the cultural, commercial and economic life of the nation;
It is a modern and very animated city, with some astonishing
and interesting architectural examples, especially along the
avenida 18 of Julio.
The atmosphere is rather different from that of the other South
American capitals. That can be allotted partially to a very
mixed population, but almost entirely of European stock.
It remains only little of buildings of colonial style, but the
authorities recently undertook to save the rare surviving specimens.
There are many museums to see in Montevideo, and one should
not miss Museo del Gaucho. One will admire there superb collections
relating to the history of these boys cowherds, cow-boys of
Uruguay, with their leather clothing, their weapons, their objects
of money and other documents on their everyday life. One can
see also there a monetary documentation of the history of Uruguay.
The building itself is worth displacement by the beauty of its
architecture.
Two other museums will retain the visitor. They are the historical
residences of Put Lavalleja (Museo Historico Nacional), and
of Put Will rivet.
A visit in Mercado del Puerto, with the angle of Piedras and
Castellanos, in the old part of the city, is a must. It always
functions like a market with meat and vegetables, but of many
restorations were led which stopped the commercial activities
and supported the installation of bars and restaurants sympatic.
It is a delicious place, very attended, where one can sit down
to eat or drink glass by listening to the travelling musicians
who never miss in trimmings.
The zoo and the planetarium are also worthy of interest.
On the sea front nine beaches, very attended during the summer
are stretched. One of closest to the center, Playa Pocitos,
is regarded as Copacabana of Montevideo.

COLONIA
The old working kept its plaza surrounded of many museums
installed in old residences, with the remainders of former
strong Spanish in the vicinity.
PAYSANDU
It acts of largest of the provincial towns, with a population
of 80.000 inhabitants.
You will verez the cathedral, of which the walls kept embedded
the balls of the war of Triple Alliance, the city was then
a moment with the hands of the Paraguayans.
The museum of the collége salésien deserves
also a fast visit.
PUNTA
LED ESTE
It is one of the balneal holidays most crested of all South
America.
Since Maldonado, one can go to visit the colony of seals which
lives on Isla de Lobos.
SALTO
It is the urban centre more populated north of Uruguay.
There are many thermal springs in the neighbourhoods, with
arranged swimming pools.
You will be able to also visit the gigantic dam Salto Grande
on Uruguay.
